    Without prejudice.
Throughout life it is important to deal with and trust in only the very best of professional people; doctors, dentists, mechanics and hairdressers, but of all you must find a great tattoo artist. One who listens to your ideas, can conceive them, draw them out and improve on them to create an amazing, well-placed and stunning work of art on your body.
I consider myself very lucky to have met Rob Donovan at Living Art Tattoo & Body Piercings as he is one such artisan.
I came to Rob years ago, for a tattoo modification and to add on to a bland tattoo that I had for a long time.
The modification was done in a stress-free way perfectly. We chatted about my wish list of work and over the last 5 years, I have now moved on from having 3 bland tattoos to now being fairly heavily tattooed with Rob's massive artistic help. Thank-you!
Rob has a very pleasant and caring personality, easy to talk to with a wealth of skill in all aspects and genres of tattooing; colour, B&W, shading, u.v, themes, sleeves, oriental, tribal, back, front, chest or breast, and cover-ups, all amazing art.
Importantly, Rob is always ready to consult on your ideas and give input or just go with your ideas and give input or just go with your own arty inspirations.
The studios are very clean and during the tattoo sessions you can watch TV and movies, listen to music or just chat.
You're welcome to bring a friend for support, if that helps- or even stop for a snack or smoke and pose outside at the intersection, ha ha!
Rob has not only tattooed and pierced me, but my wife, daughter and son.
    All amazing shows of art!
So for your first or next tattoo (or piercing), big or small, I will recommend Rob Donovan at Living Art Tattoo & Piercing as your artist. I will never go elsewhere.

I have wanted a "personal" piercing for the last 5 years and had researched the procedure many times... I finally decided to get it done but was having trouble finding the right piercer in New Plymouth that I felt comfortable with... So I decided to Google!!!... I came across Living Art Tattoos and Body Piercing in Henderson, Auckland. I found the website very friendly and read the other testimonials so decided to contact the owner Rob. He replied the next day and found him to be very friendly and professional, so I made a booking!!!... I travelled a total of 10 hours to get my piercing done and it was the best decision I ever made... In fact, I felt so comfortable I also got another 2 piercings done while I was there!!.. I would highly recommend Rob for any body piercings!!...he made me feel very comfortable, and wish I had found him sooner!!.. Highly recommended!!!... Thanks Rob.. Angela - New Plymouth

Had a super amazing time here at living art doing the piercing course . Rob is an amazing trainer he kept me very informed as was with me every step of the way , I don't believe there would be a better place to train as with Rob it is one on one and the amount of clients sourced for my training was out standing and left me feeling very confident . I own two of my own studios and would have no problem investing in any of my artists coming to living art for this course! Thanks very much rob for the time and effort you put in to making me a qualified competent and confident body piercer

I had work done by 3 other artists, but they did not compare to the quality of work at Living Art.

My visit to New Zealand inspired me to have a half sleeve and shoulder tattoo done in remembrance of my father that passed away late in 2013. I arrived at Living Arts Tattoos speculatively looking for advice on a Maori inspired tribal tattoo. I was asked to return when Rob was in so that I could look at designs and advise Rob what I wished to do and how we were to apprach this sensitive subject (as Maori's can take offense if the art work is done without research). We spoke for over half an hour which gave me a myriad of idea's in which I developed into a Tiki centre piece with Koru's flanking on both sides and above (signifying Parents and siblings). Without the specialist guidance from Rob the idea would have floundered with the possiblility of me returning back to England without the tattoo I wished to have done. We agreed on a design with me detailing the reasoning for why I wished the certain aspects to be placed within the tattoo, and Rob advised that he would need a few days to prep and design this bespoke artwork.
We finalised on the complete design through telephone calls and email, which I was made to feel that I was being looked after by a complete professional, which listened and understood my reasoning for why I wished to have this tattoo done. I booked in for the 13th of Jan to have the work done and was advised to get a good nights rest and feed myself on sugar based foods to keep my energy reserves up. We started at 10am and completed this masterpiece that I will carry on my arm proudly for the rest of my life.
I would recommend Living Art Tattoos to anyone what wished to have a service which I feel is beyond excellant. It is a shame that I live so far way else, I would have booked in for my next tattoo with Rob straight away.

For 3 - 4 months I visited numerous tattoo parlors in search of a tattoo artist who could help me with some personal tattoo’s I wanted done. I set out to seek someone veteran with experience and knew what they were talking about…….. Tattoo’s are permanent and I didn’t want any ink on me completed by someone who had been in the industry for a few years and didn’t do a good job. I am grateful I met Rob……..a very “gifted and articulate” tattoo artist that is thorough with his work and knows how to look after his clients. I am impressed at his creative imagination implementing idea’s at his consultation sessions. I am currently undergoing two full sleeves and Rob has blown me away with the creativity and detail he has put into it. I can’t wait to post them so you can see how “GOOD” Rob is……..his works speak for themselves.
Book a consolation session with Rob, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!!! Come now and see Rob. Words can’t express how overwhelmed and happy I am with your art work Rob, Faafetai lava Rob (Thank You)
    A happy Samoan customer.

Very very pleased with the piercing I had done. Rob defiantly knew what he was doing and explained everything I wanted to know clearly. I got a very warm welcome when walking into the shop. The whole place was very clean and all tools were sterilised and disposed of as I would expect. Even the after care has been great, answering my questions and suggesting different options etc.
I would highly recommend Living Arts.
    Thanks guys

What a great choice for "My first tattoo experience". Great consultation and design advice. Rob's personality puts you at ease and he manages to keep that up during the tattoo. The end result is perfect even to the tiny details in the design. Thanks Rob I'm thrilled with my Tatt!

The result was perfect, it only took 25 minutes and Rob was brilliant. He put me at ease right from the initial enquiry as I had never had a tattoo before. I was really impressed with the website, it stood out from the others that I had looked at in the area. Rob is very professional and has a great product. I would highly recommend anyone to go to Living Art Tattoos. (Andrea Boyd using my husbands account!)

I spend one year in New Zealand and i absolutely wanted a very special souvenir. My favourite New Zealand bird: the fantail. So I emailed Rob a picture and we spoke about it and I got my appointment. Rob is a very friendly and highly talented Tattoo Artist and he absolutely knows what he is doing. The result was amazing! Its my most beautiful Tattoo and I've never seen such a good healing process on one of my other Tattoos. I'm really proud to have a wonderful piece of Robs art on my Body now!
    Thank you so much!
